Apple Senior Systems Engineer Dave Marra, making his 14th annual visit to MUG ONE, will show the newest features of iOS 9 for the iPhone and iPad, OS X 10.11 El Capitan for the Mac and Photos for iPhone, iPad and Mac. He will also show how to make the most of Apple’s iCloud services.

Known for his dynamic delivery style and exciting demos, Dave has conducted thousands of technology presentations, keynote addresses and workshops for schools, Mac and PC user groups, businesses and other professional organizations across the United States and Canada. Certified as both an Apple Certified Technical Coordinator and an Apple Certified Systems Administrator, his specialty areas include digital multimedia, internet technologies, accessibility and Mac/PC integration.

April 14 – “Stacking” Photography and the Mac

Join us on Thursday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m. in 103 Golisano Hall on the Hartwick College campus in Oneonta, NY for the April meeting of MUG ONE, the Macintosh User Group of Oneonta, NY.

MUG ONE member Bob Rothenberg is a collector and photographer of tiny (!!!) mineral specimens. For his work, a major challenge is achieving “depth of field.” Bob will discuss and illustrate the use of Helicon Focus, a software package that helps remediate this problem.
Don’t miss Bob’s remarkable photographs of the minerals he has traveled the world to collect, and the ingenious methods he uses to create these photographs!

We’ll also learn about latest Apple’s latest offerings, including the 9.7″ iPad Air Pro and the classic-sized 4″ iPhone SE.

March 10 – Apple Devices: Which Ones are Best for You? and VueScan scanning software

With so many options to choose from, which Apple devices are best for you? MUG ONE president Elsa Travisano, with help from the MUG ONE membership, will explore the many alternatives. We will discuss the pros, cons and best uses for the iPhone, iPod, iPad (mini, Air and Pro), Apple TV, and the various computer flavors—MacBook, iMac, Mac mini and Mac Pro. We’ll even consider the latest and smallest, the Apple Watch.

VueScanElsa will also demonstrate VueScan, software that makes older scanners work with current operating systems and enhances any scanner’s abilities.

She and vice president Brian Foley will share tips and tricks and show favorite websites, including eatyourbooks.com, an ingenious online index for cookbooks and recipes.
