February 3 MUG ONE Meeting – Transferring LPs and Cassettes to Your Mac, iPad Sneak Peek

Join us on Wednesday, February 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Golisano Hall, Room 103 on the Hartwick College campus for our first meeting of 2010.
Dust off those old LP albums and cassettes!
Brian Foley and Tom Slavinsky will show how easy it is to digitize your record or cassette collection, using most any cassette deck or turntable, simple cables and inexpensive (or even free) software.
As an added bonus, Sven Anderson will give an introduction to Apple’s newly announced iPad tablet computer.
As always, the meeting will begin with a question and answer session and end with a door prize drawing for current members and refreshments for all. The MUG ONE lending library will be available for members.

December 2 MUG ONE Meeting – Holiday Meeting and Party

This is your chance to show off your favorite Mac-related hardware, software, accessories, websites or whatever you think might tickle our fancy. Special emphasis will be on items that make good gifts for the holiday season. Come see your fellow MUG ONE members’ favorites! November 4 Meeting – Video Without Tears, MUG ONE Elections

Join us on Wednesday, November 4 at 7:30 p.m. in 103 Golisano Hall on the Hartwick College campus for the November meeting of MUG ONE.
Brian Foley will show us easy ways to make videos and share them with family and friends, as well as simple ways to publish them on the web with websites like YouTube. He’ll take us from camera (a video camera or your Mac’s built-in iSight camera) to finished product, using applications you probably already have like iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand, as well as Keynote and sound and screen-capture probrams.
We’ll also hold our annual election of MUG ONE officers.

October 7 Meeting: iPhoto ’09 and Snow Leopard Tips and Tricks

Come up to speed with the latest version of iPhoto and with the just-released Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard at TidBITS publisher Adam Engst’s annual visit to MUG ONE, the Macintosh User Group of Oneonta on Wednesday, October 7 at 7:30 p.m. in 103 Golisano Hall on the Hartwick College campus. Adam will look at the major changes in iPhoto ’09 and will also share his favorite small tweaks that you might not find on your own in Snow Leopard. Come prepared with any and all iPhoto and Mac OS X questions for Adam!

September 9 Meeting – iTunes, Apple Announcements and (maybe) Snow Leopard

Join us on Wednesday, September 9 at 7:30 p.m. in 103 Golisano Hall on the Hartwick College campus for the first MUG ONE meeting of the fall semester.
Keith Robisch will show how to harness the power of iTunes’ Playlists and Genius music recommendation feature.
Then Elsa Travisano will report on products to be announced at Apple’s September 9 Special Media Event. If time permits we’ll take a first look at the just-released Mac operating system, OS 10.6 Snow Leopard.
We’re also planning a giveaway of older books from the MUG ONE lending library, a great opportunity for folks using older applications or operating systems to pick up some free books.

On Wednesday, February 4, MUG ONE President and Apple User Group Advisory Board member Elsa Travisano reported on Macworld Expo 2009, which she attended January 5-10 in San Francisco.
Highlights included Apple’s iPhoto ’09 – part of iLife ’09 – which organizes photos using face detection and recognition, iWork ’09, which adds web sharing and collaboration, and the iTunes Store’s move to offer all music without digital rights management (DRM) restrictions beginning in April. Elsa created her slideshow using a 30 day trial version of iWork 09′s Keynote software, and showed off some some new features of Keynote as she gave her talk.
