April 7 MUG ONE Meeting – Converting Video for your Mac/iPhone/iPod & Aperture 3
Join us on Wednesday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Golisano Hall, Room 103 on the Hartwick College campus in Oneonta, NY for the April meeting of MUG ONE.
Keith Robisch will demo Handbrake and VLC, two free, open source programs that let you rip (convert) the DVDs you own for viewing on an iPhone, iPod or Mac. VLC is a media player that is used in conjunction with Handbrake so you can extract the video and audio files from a DVD. Ripping is the copying of the files from an audio and/or video source, such as audio CDs and DVDs, so you can use them on MP3 players. iTunes can rip songs from audio CDs but not videos.
Elsa Travisano will then give an introduction to Aperture 3, Apple’s high-end photo editing and management software. Whether you’re a pro photographer or an iPhoto user with a big library of photos to manage, Aperture 3 has a lot to offer. Find out if it’s right for you.
As always, the meeting will begin with a question and answer session and end with a door prize drawing for current members and refreshments for all. The MUG ONE lending library will be available for members.
Meetings are free of charge and everyone is welcome. For more information, email us at info@mugone.com
